Welcome to the website for the Town of Cheektowaga Comprehensive Plan. This site has been established to provide you with information on the Plan and keep you up to date on the progress of the ongoing planning efforts.

The Cheektowaga Town Board adopted the last Comprehensive Plan in 1992. That document is now over 15 years old and needs to be updated to reflect and address current trends and conditions in the Town. The Town is striving to define new directions for the community with a primary objective of creating a Plan that will serve as a reliable resource for future decision making. The update of the Comprehensive Plan will address seven critical themes, which include:

• Defining a future vision and identity for the Town - What does the Town want to achieve for the future?
• Concepts for neighborhood development and renewal - How can we make your neighborhood better?
• Assessment of the achievement of previous planning goals - What things did we start, yet weren’t completed?
• Incorporation of a regional perspective of the Town as a first ring suburb - How do we benefit from our location in Western New York?
• Creative recommendations for planning, zoning and design techniques - Are the rules for development what we need?
• Evaluation of opportunities for fiscal efficiency - Is Government as efficient and effective as it should be?
• Incorporation of strong involvement and input from the public - What do you want for Cheektowaga? 

The development of the Comprehensive Plan will be undertaken by a team of professional planning consultants with the expertise required to achieve the Town’s goals and objectives for the Plan. The Project Team will work closely with Town representatives and be guided by an Advisory Committee of local officials, with further assistance from an AdHoc Committee of community representatives. Through this effort, the Town seeks to develop a Comprehensive Plan with enduring value - - a Plan that recognizes and invests in the community’s assets and results in a quality place to live, work and play.
